Let me start this by telling you that I was completely thrown when Lily told me she wanted a dinosaur party. We have had a garden party, mermaid party, and princess party (quarantine style). Leading up to her birthday I always ask her what kind of party she would like. If I know she’s super into something at the moment, I will suggest it, but she’s been pretty great about picking out something on her own that she likes. However, dinosaurs are not something that she plays with much, if ever. But after asking if she was sure (a few hundred times), she assured me that she was. A dinosaur party she insisted, “because girls like dinosaurs too” and she’s not wrong.
Immediately I started my search on Pinterest for girly dinosaur party which wasn’t super inspiring. A lot of the dinosaur products for girls have a very cartoon-ish looking character that I don’t love. Lily’s second criteria was a pink and green dinosaur party, “green because boys are coming” she said. The specifics of her requests made it even more difficult to find products so I looked at a lot of Pinterest, google searches, IG party inspiration, etc. and started putting together a vision board.
After I had the vision board put together I started reaching out to my favorite small shops to put this beautiful, spunky, pink and green dinosaur party together for my girl. Believe me when I tell you that I work with some of the most amazing small shops – they go above and beyond. These kind, generous shop owners were so excited to be apart of this special day with us. Now that the party came and went, the only thing left to do is bask in the beauty that was our Lil-osaur’s 5th birthday!

With the amount of friends that were invited I wanted to make sure that they had a fun space to sit and celebrate. I borrowed the cutest kid size tables and chairs from The Party Heist, a local party boutique. It was so much fun to watch the kids gather around together at this table setting.
To set the table I used a craft paper roll that I had on hand, layered a grass runner from EnFete party supplies, and wood rounds that my father in law made for me. I sprinkled our custom dinosaur confetti from Festive Fetti then added the dinosaurs I spray painted and glued tutus + crowns onto.
The paper goods are a combination of tableware I gathered from EnFete (palm leaf plates), Little Details Party Shop (pink stripe plates, napkins, pink ombre cups, and gold cutlery), and Lil Penguin Parties (gold palm leaf plates). I grabbed these wood dinosaurs from Michaels and spray painted them the various party colors.
The stunning cake and cupcake toppers came from Hip Hip Soiree (in addition to the ‘stomp chomp roar’ banner shown above. They were custom made and truly some of the cutest toppers I have seen. We set the dessert table with a cake from Fresh Taste of Bel Air, cupcakes from our local Walmart bakery, and cotton candy push pops from Libby Lou’s Fun Factory.
The table was backed by a tablecloth fringe banner I made and a balloon garland to frame it. I added some palm leaves (Amazon) into the garland to keep the same vibe throughout.
To feed everyone we decided to keep it simple by grabbing pre-made party trays from Sam’s Club along with some additional bits and pieces to compliment the trays. This included veggies and ranch, fruit cups, individual bags of chips, various meats and cheeses, and dinner rolls.
For party favors I used my Cricut to cut dinosaur shapes out of glitter card stock, hot glued them to dowels, and tied matching ribbon onto them. A fun shop called Colorama sent dinosaur shaped crayons for each little to take home. I also put together craft goody bag for everyone by grabbing wooden dinosaurs (Dollar Tree), sets of 18 paint pots (Michaels) and chunky paint brushes (also Michaels). This gave everyone the chance to paint their own dinosaur when they got home.
