fill up your kid’s love bucket

I have always been the kind of woman that wants to make the holidays special. When we started dating, I would make holiday theme treats for M’s coworkers and put together little baskets for him.

After becoming a mom I started to channel a lot of this energy into the kid’s holidays. M still reaps the benefits of this, but it is more focused on them. Whether it’s special treats, themed meals, or little goodie baskets – I’m always trying to make the little things special.

For Valentine’s Day I put together simple baskets for each of the kids to enjoy and make the holiday something for them to celebrate too.

My goal is to keep the baskets mixed with a variety of things. I never want to include too many treats or toys, so I try to find activities and things they can DO as well. The Target Dollar Spot is usually the best place to locate holiday themed dress up pieces, small toys, snacks, activities, etc.

Below is a list of items you could include:
cups/water bottles
bath bombs
play-doh
coloring books
crayons/markers/pencils
puzzles
bath bombs
fuzzy socks
crafts
candy
stuffed animals
baking ingredients
crazy straws
sunglasses
jewelry

My favorite trinket in this years baskets came from a small shop called Beck Beck Designs. This shop creates and sells personalized name crayons in addition to holiday theme and custom shape crayons. She was kind enough to send me a set of name crayons for each of the kids which I’m in love with. Along with that she sent two of her Valentine’s that I gifted to each child from each other.

While I enjoy filling my kids love bucket with extra special holidays, you do not have to do the same. It’s not EVER required that you do things like this to be a good mom. My goal is never to make you anyone feel like less of a parent by not doing what other parents are doing.

If you do decide to create little love baskets and use any of these ideas, tag me so I can see and share!
