forever(ever) home sneak peek!

It has now been five days since we closed on our forever(ever) home. There was some work that needed to be done since the house was a foreclosure. Things like replacing an HVAC unit and having the well chlorinated.

Then there are things we are doing just because. For instance, we started painting immediately. Thankfully there was almost no paint on the walls to start so we didn’t have to go over any bad painting or harsh colors. After three rooms we realized that doing it ourselves was unrealistic. Because of this, our painting company will start Monday (thank goodness).

With just under two weeks until our move day, I’m getting so antsy to start making it ours. Once we are officially moved over, the series I previously had done with our last house will restart.

While I unpack and start making the house our home, I will spotlight each room as I go. This way I can share each room before and after, letting you on the sources and brands that helped make each space.

Until then, here is a little sneak peek of our house. It immediately caught our attention because of how grand it feels from the outside. The double front doors are something that we both love, but aren’t really sure why.

The two most used rooms in a house for us are the kitchen + family room. With toddlers you know that you spend 90% of your day making meals or retrieving snacks. The family room is where we spend the majority of our time together, whether we’re playing a game or watching a movie.

One of the only things that can be a little wonky in this house is the master bedroom layout. The room itself is shaped differently. I’m thinking furniture placement will be a project, but nothing I can’t handle. It makes up for the floor plan with the dual sided fireplace, I mean.. come on!

My favorite rooms to design are easily the kids rooms. I know how much I loved my bedroom growing up, so I always want to create a magical place for the kids. A lot of the elements from their previous rooms are transferring over (furniture, color schemes, decor pieces, etc.) but there are fun new updates! I’m working with a few shops to add something extra to each of their bedrooms.

The other space I’m really excited to design is one that we haven’t had before. THE PLAYROOM. We’ve been in the process of finishing the basement in our previous home for a few months. During that project is when we decided to make a move, so we never got to utilize that coveted space before. This time around I’m over the moon about an already finished basement ready for all. the. things.

In addition to what I’ve shared there are many other rooms that I will showing you the progress of. Formal living and dining, guest bedroom, multiple bathrooms, TWO offices, and a sunroom.

Stay tuned some of the very exciting partnerships I have coming. I hope you’ll follow along on my journey to make our forever(ever) house a home!
