With our little girl turning six this week I have been spending the past month gathering birthday gifts for her. She didn’t want and/or need anything particular this year so I got to have a little fun putting a basket of goodies together. Her party theme was all about kitty cats so I used that theme an inspiration for her birthday presents too.
I hadn’t decided how I was going to gift the presents to her, but then I came across a wicker basket with a kitty face on it. Despite wrapping most of the gifts in this cat wrapping paper pack I found on Amazon, I knew I wanted to put the gifts together in something. A wicker basket with a cat face on it caught my eye during a trip to Ross Dress for Less and I knew – that was it!
basics
We add pajamas and books to every gift/holiday that we can so that was the first pick up. I grabbed this ‘will wake for birthday cake’ set from Carters which also comes in this color (you can find other options here, here, and here). Now that she’s learning to read on her own/to us I have been picking up the I Can Read books anytime I see one she’d like. For her birthday (and her love for pink) the Pinkalicious Happy Birthday book was the obvious choice. This year I added a necklace from Jersie Louise Handmade because we’re obsessed with her pieces and this ‘6’ was just too cute!
pay attention
About a month ago Lily picked up a few bikes accessories that she was really into. I made a note of them and grabbed them! She will be so excited to put the wheel lights and streamers (with bell) on right away.
things they like
Pretend play and dress up are still very much a favorite of hers. I knew I wanted to incorporate toys that promoted this play. The True Bloom make up kit is perfect for little ladies that want to play, but need the safest, most natural products. While this birthday cake toy set from Geyiie was such a fun way to enjoy her big day and play birthday for many days to come.
fill in the gaps
After I put all of the goodies into the kitty basket, I filled in the gaps with some odds and ends. She’s very into pop-its so I try to grab some to fit each theme. This birthday cake pop-it is so colorful and perfect as a gift for any little kid. While shopping for her birthday I saw this uni-kitty in perfect pastels and snagged it for snuggles at bedtime.
activities
She’s a busy body so she’s always wanting something to do – our recent obsession is with the Usbourne Sticker Dolly Dressing books. This kitten one perfectly fit and is a smaller size to take on-the-go with us. The final few goodies came from the kids craft section at Michael’s. They had a kitty cat coloring book, pencil case, and clickable colored pen.
Our girl is going to have so much fun opening up her goodies. I opted to save this basket for her birthday morning because there was already so much going on during her party. Now she will be celebrated equally on her big day too!
I hope this helps you to find some things, big or small, to gift the little girls in your life. Remember it isn’t about the gift, but the love behind it.
