how to stuff stockings like a pro

Since I was little, I have always loved Christmas stockings. Spilling it out all over the floor to find the goodies inside was such a joy on Christmas morning. Now that I’m a parent it is no different. I get so much happiness out of stuffing their stockings with little trinkets and gifts I know they’ll love. Though I am definitely one of the moms that puts practical items in there too.

Need a new toothbrush? You will find it in your stocking.
Bubble bath running low? No bubbles until Christmas morning.
Socks too small? Make it work until the 25th.

To start, our personalized stockings were purchased from Pottery Barn Kids a few years ago. Each person has their name and a different fair isle Christmas pattern. You can find similar here.

One of the larger gifts this year are these Blabla plush dolls – Jasper the deer for Cam and Harmony the mermaid for Lily. They have each received two of these dolls for previous holidays and love them. Their soft, but still very durable. They’re handmade with 100% natural fibers.

The other larger gifts are these fun goodies from Nuby USA. Each year I grabbed a new water bottle because we are always in need of those. This year I grabbed the Thirsty Kids Pop Up Water Bottle which features a free flow, bite resistant pop-up spout. This is perfect for a big kid while still being little kid friendly. Since bath time is such a well-loved past time in our house, I knew a few new bath toys would be perfect. I picked up the Mermaid and Astronaut Bath Mirror Set which also comes with little toys of their own. The Mermaid set comes with a hair comb and lipstick squirter toy while the Astronaut set comes with a pretend razor and spaceship squirter. Perfect for a fun little actually to play with while in the bath. To finish off their stockings I added the Aquatic Bath Squirters which one in a mermaid and a submarine. Bath time is sure to be a fun adventure now!

For smaller items I stick with the same type of things every year. Below are examples.

Body wash
Bubble bath
Chapstick
Slime
Playdough
Holiday PEZ
Fuzzy socks
Water bottles

A visit to your local Target dollar spot will be really helpful in finding some fun smaller gifts to put inside. That is where all of my smaller things came from – they were each $1. Not only was I able to fill the stocking, but it didn’t cost an arm and a leg to do so!

Do you participate in stuffing stockings? What kind of things do you stuff them with?
