it’s time to purrr-ty! – birthday party

Typically when Lily’s birthday rolls around she already has a theme in mind. This year she didn’t have any specific requests, so I tossed out some ideas.. and puppy stuck. After I started to see a bunch of puppy parties pop up all over IG, I mentioned switching to kitties instead.. and she was sold! There aren’t a lot of kitty tableware options to choose from so I knew I was going to have to get creative with this. I found a set of plates on Oriental Trading and decided to plan around that pulling colors from the design.

We rented the kids table and chairs so they’d have their own little space. I covered them with plastic table cloths and craft paper. The table was set with pink and cat plates, mint and happy birthday napkins, rainbow ombre cups, wood cat stir sticks, diy yarn balls, and of course.. custom Festive Fetti confetti.

Lily requested that we serve pizza as the main dish, but I put together a few snacks to enjoy while the guests waited. Using party cups we dished out various types of ‘meow mix’ also known as goldfish. We opted for a larger cake than usual because the kids always seem to want some of it also. I made some cupcakes to go along with the cake and topped them with a sprinkle mix that I made to match her theme. Then I put marshmallows (our girls favorite snack) on paper straws and dipped them in semi-melted pink icing and the sprinkle mix. It was simple, but super fitting for her and the party.

I set up all of the desserts on our kitchen buffet that I covered with a white and gold table runner, various cake stands, birthday cake plates, and the confetti. This put all of the sweets together and away from the rest of the food (so little ones don’t go directly for them first). The letter ledges were set with a clever birthday message for Lily and draped with balloons. I opted for a lot less balloons this year but still loved how it turned out.

For party favors I wanted to have the kids be interactive and take home something they’d actually like. We decided to have a kitty adoption! I put together gable boxes in pink and white, filled them with shredded paper, and a kitty cat stuffy. Using Canva I created little adoption certificates so the kids could name their cats and officially be their owners. Then I set out pipe cleaners and a variation of beads to make collars for them. It was a lot of fun and the kids were having a blast naming their new pets. While at the dollar store I grabbed some cat toys for each little one to take as well.

To fill in some time at the party I used card stock to print ‘happy birthday’ coloring sheets with kitty cats that I found on Pinterest and grabbed cat face wood masks. There were Crayola Pearl (the perfect color) crayons readily available to use. The activity/favor table was completed with cat ear headbands for the guests to wear.

We had so much fun celebrating our girl and seeing all of her friends here with her. If you’re considering a kitty party, I highly suggest it! It was such a blast to plan and even more exciting to watch it come together! Above are the links to pick up any of the goodies I used for her party. Enjoy!
