kid’s summer journals ’24

School is out and we’re ready for summer! That means it’s time to get summer journals together. We started this concept two years ago and it continues to evolve. It’s fun to see what the kids find important enough to write about and mention. I don’t stress the idea of full sentences, punctuation, but instead.. more of a scrapbook style. They have jot down thoughts, lists, doodle, add photos – whatever their creative hearts want.

Throughout last summer I would make sure they had their journals and supplies packed up when they’d go to their grandparents, back and forth between the beach house, and everywhere in between. With the polaroid cameras on hand they were able to capture photos too! See our ’23 journals here.

We use a toiletry bag for lots of organization and easy carrying. They have so much space, lots of compartments/pockets, hooks to hangup, zipper completely shut, and have an easy handle to carry. The particular one I picked up comes in 20 different colors! It easily fits the 8 inch x 8 inch journal, extra packs of film, and the instax camera in the main compartment.

I included colorful pens, crayons, variety of stickers (including letters to spell out words), photo corners, washi tape, compact pencil sharpener, glue sticks, and more. This helps the kids to have everything they need on hand at their reach. There’s very little that could be needed outside of this. Everything in our journal kits for this summer can be found with the links below.

Keep in mind that even younger kids can have a summer journal. It might look more like doodles and few word sentences, but it’s still fun! Whether you choose to have your littles do summer journals or not, you’re a great mama! If you use any of the goodies we’ve shared, tag me and let me know! Happy summer and happy journaling to your littles!
