The greatest things about having our children close in age has been watching their bond. While it has been chaotic at times, it definitely has benefits.
From the moment they first met, Cam was smitten by his baby sister. As they have grown up side by side, you can see how much love they share.
One of their favorite things to do together has always been reading books. Many nights while I am putting Lily to sleep, Cam has asked me if he could ‘read’ to her. They pick a book, snuggle up together, and he starts out, ‘oned upon a tine’. She giggles with excitement and listens closely.
With Christmas just around the corner I have been on the lookout for some great books to include in our “twelve days of Christmas”. Each night they open a book for us to read together while we countdown the days until Santa arrives.
This year I was so excited to find a new, limited time only Hooray Heroes book.
In this book they focus on the adventures of two siblings together through poems. Once you select to create a book, you begin by customizing the names and looks of both siblings. Then you can select to have the book narrated by mom or dad. After that you click through a group of stories, selecting 15 of them to be added into your book. These stories are the different activities that the siblings will do together throughout the book. Things like playing on the playground, brushing their teeth, jumping in mud puddles, and so much more. You have the option to write a dedication to your children then one click and you’re done!
My kids really love seeing themselves inside the books they read. Now they can read through and watch their character selves do all the same things that they experience each day.
