This should come as no surprise that I have been putting together baskets for the kids to celebrate summer. With the beach house purchase a few months ago the start of summer is even more exciting because we have this beautiful house to celebrate together in. A few practical things and a couple fun toys make up these adorable baskets that I’m itching to gift the kids.
Seasonal things never seem to be around for very long, so I make sure to start piecing them together early on. I have been collecting things for the summer baskets since before Easter. I will link the items that are still currently available, but unfortunately some of them no longer are. Like usual I have put together baskets that are identical for each of my kids but suited for boy and girl to ensure less fighting.
These coral and grey plastic containers with handles at Dollar Tree (here are similar ones) were the first thing I grabbed because I could see the double use for them. After gifting the kids these goodies, I pictured them using the baskets to carry their toys on and off the beach all summer.
The swimsuit, swim trunks, rash guard, and beach towels were picked up during a grocery trip from Target. I also found the handheld claw/shovel in the outdoor toy section. I snagged the Cool Gear water bottles and adorable flip-flops recently at Walmart. That is also where the ice cream cone bubbles, mini sand toy kits, and frisbees came from but they were located in the Easter basket section so I’m unsure of their availability.
Hello Lucky Kids sent us the cutest stack of books so I picked two to add in. Because the kids love having new lovies any chance they get, I knew I had to grab the adorable Willow and Scout from Cuddle + Kind. They’re wearing the cutest jumpers with summer treats on them so it was the perfect addition!
I also grabbed new water shoes from Dick’s (because who doesn’t need shoes to get around in the muck?), spray bottle fans perfect for keeping cool, and a bigger sand bucket with a few more tools.
We had plans to spend the weekend at the beach house this past weekend, so I gifted the kids the baskets on before we left. It might not be hot beach weather yet, but I knew they would still get a lot of use out of their sand toys during the cooler weather drive on days too.
Whether you make a gift basket full of goodies or one well thought out gift – your kids will be happy to spend the summer making all the best memories with you!
Happy (almost) beginning of summer!
