the home tour – Cam’s room

It has been almost a full month since I posted about our new home on here. Keeping with the theme of part 3, I’m going to stay upstairs and show you our little guy’s room. One of the easiest and hardest rooms to decorate.

In the few months prior to moving here, I had just switched Camden’s room with the craft room (which was our fourth bedroom). Bought some fun new pieces and updated his room a bit. Before I had a chance to share it, we were moving.

Now that he’s settled into his new room, it’s finally time to share.

We’ve talked for a few months about buying him a bunk bed, but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. For now he has the headboard that came from his convertible crib a few years back. While I was upgrading his room before we moved, I grabbed this rugby striped bedding from Target and some new throw pillows.

Kichler helped me to upgrade the ceiling fan that was in his room. It was outdated, but also purple with butterflies. Now we have this simple and clean looking Starkk LED matte white fan in its place.

In addition to his headboard, the other piece of furniture that remains original is the dresser. We purchased it on Wayfair and it was in decent shape before it made three moves plus countless rearranging.

The important part of the dresser is what it holds on and above it. Like this baseball for example. During Camden’s ‘rookie of the year’ first birthday party, I had everyone sign it and have kept it on display ever since.

The mini gallery wall above his dresser has a few decor pieces I have bought through the years, a basket for his sports cards, the framed shirt that we used to announce his gender, and two new additions.

Greater Skies allowed me to create a map of what the stars looked like on any day I choose. Just like in Lily’s room, I chose to have a map made of the stars on the day he was born with a quote. Super simple to create and makes for a beautiful and personalized piece.

We were gifted this dinosaur wall clock from Trend Lab. It is just as wonderfully made as the similar one we received for Lily’s room.

His teepee from Cozy Culture sits in the corner with a round rug and lots of pillows for hiding. Above his bed I hung three of these cute animal heads that the Pillowfort brand makes (and Target carries) with this cute banner.

We’re starting to work on the process of going to bed and waking up at certain times. With the help of our Little Hippo Mella children’s clock, my kids are starting to learn when it is okay to get up by looking at the color on their clock. It is also a nightlight and noise machine.

I used the picture ledge shelves from Target to create a little reading corner. His Creative QT stuff n’ sit functions as not only a place to sit while reading but also a place to store all of his stuffed animals.

Months and months ago I had come across a photo on Pinterest repurposing lockers as storage in a boy’s room. I knew from that moment that I wanted to do the same. It took some patience to find the right set of lockers, but then I found these beauties for $50 on Facebook Marketplace. They were in perfect condition, clean, and ready to use. The woman selling them had also used them in her own boy’s room!

When I saw this little baseball tote a HomeGoods I knew it was going to be perfect in my little guy’s room. It holds all of his fluffy blankets and favorite stuffed animals, like these two from Blabla Kids.

These letters bought a few years ago from Hobby Lobby and painted to match the pops of color in his room. I have kept the pops of color the same allowing them to continue to work in his room.

The last space in his room is the wall across from the bed. It isn’t a large space due to the bedroom door on the left and the closet door on the right. Though it was the perfect amount of space for cube storage with bins to hold the abundance of matchbox cars we have. These black and white prints were my most recent purchase from HomeGoods. When I saw them I knew they were going home with me. They are the perfect simple photos, but they are two of his favorite things in the world. How can you go wrong?

Overall I tried not to stick with any one theme (for example dinosaurs, construction trucks, sports, robots, etc.) but rather a color scheme. Then I found items that matched all of his interests. Now I can swap them out over time and as his interests change – though I don’t foresee him being over dinosaurs anytime soon.

Does your little’s room have a theme? What is it? Will it grow with them?
