Growing up I remember Easter baskets always being hidden and filled to the brim with candy – so much candy. I loved wandering around the house that morning trying to locate my basket, coming across my siblings in the process. Now I do the same. The kids baskets are always hidden on Easter morning and they scurry around looking for them. We’ve also put together scavenger hunts to help them along in previous years.
I have our 2023 baskets fully assembled and ready to share! You can see baskets from years before by clicking on the following links – 2022, 2021, 2020, and 2019. Everything that I put into the kids baskets came from local stores meaning you should be able to find them also. The baskets themselves were a HomeGoods purchase earlier in the season. Therefore, I go back and forth between reusing the same ones and picking up new ones. Just like my mom – I get the same things for each of the kids in varying color ways.
Both of the kids have a set of pajamas, Easter books, Takeya water bottles, Kinetic Sand eggs, Da Bomb bath bombs, mystery Easter mini Squishmallows, Crazy Aaron’s mini Thinking Putty, bubble wands, gel window clings, Mondo Llama egg chalk, OOLY razzle dazzle gem kit, Peep pop-its, and various candy. After that, they each have a few things that are more specific to their own likes.

Sometimes it’s easy to get excited and fill these baskets with things you see (specifically in the Dollar Spot) and not things kids will actually want/use. This year I tried to be a bit more intentional about what I was buying (picking up more expensive things with longevity in mind rather than the smaller inexpensive trinkets that will make it one weekend). Similarly picking more neutral, non-holiday pajamas the kids will get a longer wear out of. Buying the graphic novels and chapter books instead of the cutesy kids books that we’re slowly outgrowing.
As they get older I know that our baskets will change from what they used to be, but no one knows what your kids like the way that you do. Finally, please remember you are and always will be the magic mama.
