diy anniversary gift – Cricut project

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Cricut. I take pride in hand selecting the brands that I work with and represent. All opinions expressed below are 100% mine.

Every year when our anniversary comes around I am stumped on what to gift my husband. We try to stick with the ‘traditional’ wedding gift guidelines and they can be difficult to abide by. This year the theme is copper. I drew a blank until I thought, ‘why not MAKE a gift instead?’. The brainstorming session began.

I came across a shadow box frame with a beautiful quote on the glass and some decorations behind it. Right away I knew that was what I wanted to create. With a shadow box frame, faux flowers, hemp cord, and unfinished wood pieces – I was ready!

Using Cricut Design Space I created a rough layout of the concept I had in mind. Our song has been a favorite since the beginning and is something we say to each other often. I selected a font (DTC Sahara Smooth) and wrote out the portion of the lyrics that I was planning to use. This font was ideal because it is smooth and romantic, but also legible which is important. Then I messed around with the alignment to pick how I wanted it to sit on the frame.

After I plugged in and set up my Cricut Explore I got the rest of my tools ready. For this particular project I want the vinyl to last, so I’m using the Premium Vinyl – Permanent. I secured it into my Roll Holder before getting started. Once I was set in my design, I ran the vinyl through the Cricut to cut.

Once the design was cut into my permanent vinyl, I used my Weeder to remove excess vinyl and prep for transfer tape. Then I used the StrongGrip Transfer Tape to place my design on the glass. I secured the transfer tape to the glass and used a Scraper to apply it then removed the transfer tape carefully. I also used the same tools to place the anniversary date onto the unfinished wood.

I assembled it all together and here you have it!

Creating with my Cricut is so much easier than I ever thought. It is super convenient to be able to make something real quick rather than have to go out and shop for it. I hope this gives you the inspiration that you need to create your next gift! Enjoy!
