dutch wonderland – fun for all ages!

Have you ever gone to an amusement park with your young children just to spend the entire trip telling them they’re too small for all the rides?

I have, recently in fact. With the exception of a handful of rides, my kids weren’t big enough to go on the things that peaked their interest. This made our day a little short as we couldn’t find a lot of things to do.

Because of that experience I was so. excited. to have discovered the family amusement park, Dutch Wonderland. This 43 acre family attraction is filled with 35 rides, Duke’s Lagoon water play area, live shows, games, and lots of food. They had a few special characters that you will also see walking around throughout the day. The best part for us was that 30 of their rides were suitable for my two and three year old.

Yes, you read that right. Thirty rides for my toddlers. They were overwhelmed with excitement at all of the options they had. Not to mention, they also have a variety of thrill rides for your older children to ensure they don’t lose interest in the day.

Immediately upon arriving you are greeted with the most adorable castle with a moat, then you walk around a bridge to arrive inside. This creates a really great sense of excitement over what is about to come.

Family Rides

My kids went on a fairly big range of things before we had to succumb to the heat and head to Duke’s Lagoon.

Any attraction that features construction vehicles or monster trucks are easily my sons favorite. For him, Duke’s Dozers and Offroad Rally were his favorites!

While my daughter is smitten over all things animals so of course, Panda Party and the Merry Go Around were her favorites.

Aside from the rides above we also went on the Balloon Chase, Wonder Whip, Wonder House, and Turtle Whirl.

Exploration Island

This ‘island’ is the cutest little area for anyone that loves dinosaur. You can dig for bones and walk through the Prehistoric Path with over 20 life-like dinosaurs.

Duke’s Lagoon

After a few hours in the humidity and hiding from the sun, we decided to head into the water play area. It is equipped with changing areas, snack booths, water slides, and tons of fountains to splash under.

At the end of our time here, everyone was excited and worn out. There are so many things that we did not get to experience but certainly look forward to next time. If you find yourself there I urge you to check out the Wonderland Special, the monorail, or any of their many rollercoasters. Specifically, Merlin’s Mayhem their newest addition.

Whether you’re local or want to take a short vacation to visit, Dutch Wonderland has plenty to offer. In addition to multiple day tickets, you can put together a package including your tickets and a partnering hotel.
