our Woodloch weekend

After sixteen years living in the Poconos, you would think that I’d be some sort of snow enthusiast. The reality though is I had NEVER been on a snow tube before – until now!

My family and I spent the weekend at Woodloch Resort – voted the #1 family resort in the United States. This quaint (yet very large) resort has been family-owned and operated for over sixty-one years. All of the small town feels with so many activities, attractions, and things to see.

With only one weekend to spend here, we had to get right down to business. We fit as much into our time there as we could. Starting with breakfast on our meal plan. With a Woodloch 2 or 3 meal plan, all you have to do is show up at the main dining hall during the designated time and eat. Everything is ready to go for you. After breakfast we stopped by Gigi’s Coffee House to caffeinate before we conquer.

Then we got started with snow tubing. After gearing up, we headed out to check out of the snow tube run. It was such a blast being able to experience snow tubing for the first time with my kids in tow.

We then headed back to our room by way of the complimentary shuttle bus which picks up outside each building and will take you to any location on site. A quick wardrobe change, we took the shuttle over to the ice rink and gave ice skating a shot. I have previously been ice skating but it was my cousin and the kids first time. Definitely a highlight of the trip watching my little girl fearlessly let go of the rail and skate off on her own.

Another wardrobe change, this time into swimsuits, and we were on our way to the indoor pool and kid splash pad. The kids loved having their own little space without any of the big kids splashing around. As a parent this was a great aspect to not have to worry about the kids getting knocked down. There were snacks and drinks readily available poolside for myself and the kids.

Our final stop for the night was the themed dinner at the main dining hall. The theme for this particular Saturday night was an island vibe. With light up leis and Hawaiian shirts everywhere – they really made it feel like an island. The meals were full of options for any taste, kid friendly, and filling. Our server even helped me to surprise my cousin with a candle and a ‘happy birthday’ song for her 22nd birthday.

If you’re looking for a winter getaway, Woodloch is the place to go. Nestled in the mountains of Pennsylvania, there is plenty to do and so much to see. It is 100% kid friendly while also being perfect for a couples getaway. Check out their website for more information!
