spooky books for early readers

Every holiday season the social media feeds fill up with bookshelves decorated for the season and filled festive books. I too have been there. Waiting as long as I could to swap out the cutesy picture books filled with colorful images and BIG font. What we don’t anticipate is what happens next. When they outgrow the BIG font with few words and the whimsical images of dinosaurs and unicorns.

I have never had an issue getting my kids to read. We have always read bedtime stories, often multiple a night. Now that they’re able to read on their own, they still love it but reach for something a bit different. However that doesn’t mean that we have to stop picking up seasonal and festive books.

With a ton of spooky book round ups sharing baby to early elementary appropriate books, I thought I would share the graphic novel and chapter books we’re grabbing! Most of our favorite book series have festive books that you can pick up. This will allow you to stick with well-loved characters from your already existing library.

I hope that this round up helps you keep the spooky and festive fun alive in your home libraries even when they start to outgrow the little books you have been loving for years! We don’t have to let go of the magic as they grow instead we can adapt!
