Let me start by saying I cannot believe that my first baby turned five. It’s almost unreal to think I became a mom and have been doing this motherhood bit for that long.
It took Cam about thirty-five seconds to decide that he wanted a construction theme birthday party. The party lover inside of me loves having a theme and coordinating everything to match.
The color scheme for the party was quickly chosen as yellow, orange, and black with some silver mixed in. It was pretty obviously considering the colors of construction vehicles and signs. I then incorporated the colors with balloon garlands, banners, tableware, and favors.
Upon entering the house there was a table set up with gear. Each child had a hard hat, protective glasses, and a vest. The sign directed everyone to get geared up and report to the site manager, Cam. I used black letter stickers from Michaels to label each hat and ensure no one could misplace theirs. The ‘hard hats’ and protective glasses were sent from Oriental Trading and I purchased the work zone vests from Amazon.
Re-Play Recycled was kind enough to send us a plate, bowl, and snack stack for each child to use and take home! They were the perfect color combination and it was so fun to give them something useful.
If you’ve followed me for a while you know that I am a HUGE fan of Re-Play. The durable and dishwasher safe pieces are strong enough to withstand almost anything, while also saving the planet!
The table was also set with construction cone straw cups, toolbox tablecloth, + snap bracelets (Oriental Trading), pull-back construction vehicles (Amazon), napkins (Target), and construction truck confetti which I made with my Cricut.
For the favor boxes, I partnered with Janee’s Elite Designs on these custom tool boxes. Each boxed was filled with shredded paper, a yellow + orange Play-doh, construction shaped cookie cutter (Amazon), and construction vehicle temporary tattoos (Ducky Street).
For the food I went very simple with hamburgers + hotdogs and various easy sides. Each was labeled with a construction theme name. I created the food tents on Canvas and printed them at home.
The dessert table featured chocolate + vanilla cupcakes with both chocolate + golden Oreos on top to appear as dirt and sand (things you’d find at a construction site). I made a multi-layer cake for Cam with the same look and added construction cone candles (Target). Then for an added affect I picked up yellow, black, and orange Sixlets (Party City) and placed them into this ‘YUM’ shaped dish.
The final piece of the construction party was the photo booth area. I grabbed this excavator backdrop and cardboard worker cut-outs (Oriental Trading) to set up this little photo opportunity.
