The home tour progress has slowed down a little bit, as you can tell from the gaps in between posts. Mostly because we’ve been taking advantage of the weather and spending a lot time outside/exploring.
Recently the jack + jill bathroom that Cam and Lily share has been unpacked. There wasn’t a lot of change between this bathroom and their previous one. It’s a small, quick tour but still fun to share! Because this bathroom is situated in between both bedrooms, with no windows, the lighting isn’t the brightest. The door on the left leads into Lily’s room while the door on the right leads to the shower + toilet.
When I initially redid their bathroom two years ago, I wanted something gender neutral that they could grow with. What’s more neutral than abc’s and bright exciting colors. We’ve used this shower curtain to practice colors, singing our abc’s, and letter recognition. I bought this online from Target, it’s no longer available but here is a similar one. Above the toilet there was a cabinet where I keep all the items we use that I don’t want to the kids to reach.
I purchased these unfinished frames (also in the rectangle shape) from Michael’s for $0.99 each then painted them white. From this picture hanging kit I used the hooks in order to hang the frames. I then printed pictures of the kids in the bath and some homemade bathroom quotes to go inside. The valve handles were purchased on Etsy and turned into hooks for their towels + robes.
When I was looking for canisters to hold the essentials (q-tips, cotton balls, tooth picks, etc.) I couldn’t find anything I liked. So I made them. I collected different size jars, cleaned them, and removed the labels. Once they no longer smelled like the condiment they held I painted the lids, added a handle, and WAAAH LAAAH.
There was one exciting new addition to this bathroom – the wall decals. A cute little shop called Mej Mej sent me these adorable large rainbow dots that go along with our brightly colored bathroom. They perfectly match the rest of the colors I have tied into the space and add a fun element to the otherwise plain walls. The watercolor fabric decals were a breeze to apply, easy to reposition if needed, and have stuck perfectly since.
Do your children share a bathroom? How have you managed to keep it gender neutral? I’d love to see! Tag me @queenofthebeehibe in your shared bathroom photos on Instagram.
