Well, that’s it. Our little boy is officially one year closer to double digits. My heart cannot take it. Celebrating each year with these kids is something that I’m forever grateful for. They always help me in deciding on their party themes and this year – we went fishing!
After buying the beach house we spent a lot of time fishing which really stuck with our boy and has become one of his most loved hobbies. I wasn’t surprised at all when he chose fishing at his theme. It was such a fun party to plan and execute. I shared the flatlay a few weeks ago when things first started to come in, but now it’s time to show you how it turned out. Let’s get started!
Our basement has never really been given a purpose, so it serves as our party space. The open area makes it easy to set up the event without having to move anything to accommodate the party. After hanging the custom backdrop, then setting up Cam’s fishing pole holder and party sign (made by my father in law and I) the room started to come together immediately. I filled the photo ledges with pictures of Cam’s fishing adventures and decorations to tie them in. The rental tables and chairs set up down the center in a ‘family style’ (everyone sat at one table together). The dessert table ran parallel on the back wall with the food situated in our kitchenette.
The tables were set with faux wood plank plastic cloths, kraft paper rolls, and wood rounds. Each setting had a muted color plate, bobber dessert plate, various fish napkins, red cutlery, fish bowl cups, stir sticks, and topped with custom cookies. Then the center was decorated with custom confetti and paper lantern fish that I spray painted to match the color scheme.
Our cake table (which is a long, thin folding table topped with an overhead bar) was decorated with multiple stands, shelves, and serve ware from around our house. With the addition custom tags, confetti, and all the yummy desserts – it quickly became a favorite spot to hangout. The stir sticks, fortune teller fish, vinyl stickers, candy tackle boxes, and color scheme matching soda cans were all placed here too.
The party was fully covered in all things sweet – a custom cake, cookies, and cupcakes were ready to every sweet tooth in the room. I can’t rave enough about how delicious (and beautiful) it all was. We ordered pizza (per the birthday boys request) but set out fruits, vegetables, chips, and lots of other goodies to snack on while waiting. This also included a mix of goldfish of course.
Cam’s fishing party was rounded off with two really fun party favors. Tiny tackle boxes were filled with various fish theme candy, wrapped in twine, and topped with a bobber. A sweet, sweet friend of mine made play dough jars that perfectly fit our theme with glitter fish, seaweed, bobbers, and even oars. All of the kids were really happy and the favors excitedly went home instead of into the trash.
A standout piece of this party was the custom tags. After I sent Miranda the vision board, flat lay, and thoughts I had.. she used her endless creativity to make the BEST tags to fit. They really brought a lot of the party together by labeling spaces, adding custom touches, and really personalizing the event. I couldn’t ask for better partners on this party.
